Today, March 8th, marks the first annual Myplate_green"What's on Your MyPlate?" Day. The goal of today is to heighten public awareness of the importance of choosing foods for a healthy meal.

We here at ShopWell are committed to promoting a diet that reflects the latest recommendations in the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and highlighting the message behind the new MyPlate food icon

As Community Partners within the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion Nutrition Communicators Network, we join nearly 6,000 USDA partners in spreading this message.

We want you involved.

Have healthy plate already? Spread the word!

Facebook, tweet, or post below your pictures and stories of your healthy plates and how you follow this quarter's message of "Enjoy Your Food, But Eat Less".

Use the hash-tag #MyPlate for all posts. (Include @shopwell, too!)

Want to know more about how to use MyPlate in your daily life?

Our Head Dietitian, Marci, has posted a variety of ways to Maximize Your My Plate this past year. Click here for a few of her blog posts.

The USDA has excellent tips sheets on topics from Smart Shopping for Veggies and Fruits to Eating Better on a Budget. Print the ones you like and put them on the fridge or office bulletin board.

Don't forget to visit ChooseMyPlate.gov for info on serving sizes, etc. of all five food groups.

So make sure to show us what's on your plate today!
