August is Kids Eat Right month and we think of it as a time to share ideas and tips to help kids learn about balanced healthy eating. They don’t need to learn to be perfect eaters who love vegetables (who is really?) but instead to teach them how to enjoy all types of food and learn about balance and moderation. The Kids Eat Right logo and campaign went through a very public debate earlier in the year with the announcement and subsequent withdrawal of a Kids Eat Right seal being printed on foods, initially starting with Kraft cheese. I’m not going to decry the action here but rather point out that the mission of Kids Eat Right is a good one, one that we can all get behind. read more


ShopWell for Android is out!

Just before Christmas 2013, we released the Android version of the ShopWell app. This had been a long standing request from people with Android devices, who wanted to take advantage of the personalized health and nutrition information offered by ShopWell.

We have received a tremendous response from Android users so far and we promise to continue to make the app better in the coming weeks and months. So thanks a lot for your continued support!!

Location, Location, Location… ShopWell Now Has It!

We are excited to tell you about the beta
release of location features in ShopWell! Now, ShopWell users can find out which stores nearby carry the healthy foods they find in our mobile app.  

The stores that display in the app are the closest in the area that are likely
to carry the food a user is considering. Check it out:

Please note, we are in beta testing mode and adding new foods
with location every day. Eventually, the majority of foods in ShopWell will

Since 4 out of 5 kids don't get access to refrigeration, though, it's important that parents do everything they can to ensure that kids' food remains at a healthy temperature where bacteria can't grow. A recent study of more than 200 kids' sack lunches found that only 1.6 percent of perishable items packed by parents were in the safe temperature zone.
